Our Nicaraguan Friends ~ Becoming Allies

"It’s important that kids from different places share ideas about their culture and environment because we get the opportunity to learn new things about people in the world. We are more respectful the more we learn about other countries, cultures and environments. By becoming friends with people in other countries we can learn to be each other's ally. For example, if we find out that a company from our country is polluting in their country we would be worried about our friends. We could be their ally by trying to convince the government with our letters to not let the companies pollute. We can ask the government to tell the companies that they must close if their actions are hurting the world. Because we all live in the same planet, the pollution might travel around the whole world. Therefore, what could hurt our penpal friends could also end-up hurting us as well." –Liz
