In Your Own Words ~ Personal Narratives pg#2

Planting Sweet Peas

I learned how to plant sweet peas at Hidden Villa. First we started by getting recycled newspaper. Then I got two pieces of wood that spin together. We put the newspaper around it and it danced around in circles. After, we finally had a newspaper cut to put dirt in.

There was a little garden to plant seeds called a greenhouse. We finally went to go get clean dirt from the compost pile. We took the dirt into a big, black container. We put water on the dirt and mixed it with our hands. Finally, we got a little bit of dirt and put it in our newspaper cup.

Anita showed us how to make a hole with your pinky for the seed. I asked, “how deep should we make the hole?” She said, “Not that deep because the seed won’t grow.”

This activity was special for me because it was barely my first time planting a seed. Before, I hadn’t heard of a plant called sweet pea. I would like to see my four plants that I planted at Hidden Villa. I’m really excited to go back and see how much they’ve grown!
