Student Poetry
"I like writing poems about Hidden Villa because if I feel sad or have a bad day and I read those poems they make me feel good because it reminds me of all my experiences at Hidden Villa and I get something in my head that I can think of that is good." - Liz, 5th grade.

Writing Projects ~ Poetry

Hidden Villa

Hidden Villa is the silence of the forest
Like watching the deer
Pass by with their freedom,
Watching the sheep eat
When my friends are feeding them,
Watching the horses run by us.

Seeing the trees makes me be silent
As if I was one of them,
Watching the mountain up high
Makes me think how silent it is,
How high up it is.

Watching out for myself
By not getting touched by poison oak,
Seeing those snakes pass by wondering
if they would do me some harm.
But they really don’t,
Being with my close friends
And telling each other things,
And at night
watching the stars up high.

Field Trip Day

Beams of sun
sparkling sky
cold yet warm

Bay laurel
lovely fragrance
luscious shade

Fuzzy trees
mossy green
winter coat

Smiles awake
laughing kids
one good team

Bus comes rumbling
we get on
goodbye for now

As we ride
tales of times
hopes for more.

Noche

Oscuro en el bosque.
Oscuro…Oscuro…
Donde veo está oscuro
Escucho los animales mover los árboles,
pero no sabemos cual animal los movió.
En el bosque está muy oscuro.

Oscuro en el bosque.
Oscuro…Oscuro…
Donde veo está oscuro
Me siento como si fuera el bosque.
Mi pelo son los árboles,
mis dedos son las raices
y mi cabeza la luna.

Oscuro en el bosque.
Oscuro…Oscuro…
Donde veo está oscuro
En el bosque hay muchas estrellas.
Ver a las estrellas me siento mejor.
Me siento como una estrella muy, muy alto.
Me siento que veo todo.

Cindy and the Sheep

Cindy,
so sweet,
likes taking care
of sheep,
likes feeding
them
alfalfa,
likes rubbing
their backs
feeling their
warm
wool,
likes kissing
their
gentle faces,
even likes
giving them
a trip
around the
round,
giant trees,
running with
them over
the river,
as they
enjoy
the
so sweet,
Cindy.
