Community Programs - Calendar of Events
Community Programs offers a wide variety of classes, programs and events for families and adults.

Take a farm tour, learn to make cheese or milk a goat, join us for a speaker on social justice or a community celebration like Sheep Shearing day.

Or just come on your own to enjoy Hidden Villa’s farm and wilderness any day we are open.

Hidden Villa welcomes you!

Programs and events for all ages, celebrating the wonder of nature and the richness of cultural diversity.

To register and pay online, using either your PayPal account or a credit card, for one of the events below, click on the Sign Me Up! button for the event you wish to attend. If the Wait List button appears, you may click on it to be added to the waiting list for that event and you will be contacted in the event of a cancellation.

For your convenience, you may also request a reservation by mail. Complete and print the reservation form and mail with payment to: Hidden Villa Community Programs, 26870 Moody Road, Los Altos Hills, CA 94022. Please note your reservation is not complete until confirmation has been received.

Unless otherwise noted in program description, child rates apply to ages 2-12 and children UNDER 2 are free. Senior rate applies to ages 60 and up. Must present valid student identification to receive student discount. Rates stated as "per person" apply to both adults and children.

Advance reservations are required in most cases due to limited program size. For up-to-date program information, call (650) 949-9704 or email communityprograms@hiddenvilla.org.

Cancellation policy: 50% refund if requested eight days or more before the event. No refunds 7 days or less prior to the event. Deposits for private weekend farm tours are non-refundable.


Annual Passes

An annual pass lets you visit us anytime we are open without having to pay the $5 daily fee.
You can purchase a windshield sticker for your car right here online, good for a full year from date of issuance.

Celebrate with a private farm tour and reserved picnic tables in one of our scenic picnic areas. $180 for up to 15 adults and children. $330 for up to 30 adults and children. Includes free parking. Under 2 years old no charge. Additional options available.

Are you one of our valued annual pass holders or volunteers? Come for an exclusive showing at our outdoor theater under the stars, of the new, upbeat film, FRESH. Michael Pollan says: ** We all know about the problems with the American food system, but what about the solutions? FRESH is a bracing, even exhilarating look at the whole range of efforts underway to renovate the way we grow food and feed ourselves.** Yay! Finally, a movie with some good news we can cheer about!
Be sure to come for the pre-movie potluck picnic too...great food and camaraderie guaranteed.

Salsa y Salsa!
Friday, September 10, 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm

Adult Program, 21 and over.
Salsa can be traced back to the Incas, Aztecs, and Mayans, and is used on anything that needs that extra splash of heat. We’ll be picking fresh Hidden Villa tomatillos, tomatoes and peppers, then making and sampling a tasty variety of authentic salsas. Then, enjoy a lively salsa dance lesson with our professional teacher. Even if you are an absolute beginner and have two left feet, you can be dancing like a rumbero in no time. Please bring a unique beer or other beverage to share over the chips!

Become a Farm Guide! (New Volunteer Orientation)
Sunday, September 12, 10:00 am to 3:00pm

Learn how to volunteer as an Environmental Farm & Wilderness Guide for our weekday Environmental Education Programs or weekend community programs! Volunteers lead school children and families on tours to meet our farm animals, explore nature trails and taste goodies from our organic garden.

No experience necessary. All training is provided!

Native American Acorn Grinding

FOR FAMILIES AND ADULTS.
Join Ethnobotanist Jolie Lonner Egert for an ecological and culinary adventure into the world of oaks and acorn food – the original California cuisine. This fun and educational talk and walk will explore California’s oak habitats and the rich web of life they support. For thousands of years, humans have been an integral part this web of life with acorns being a staple food for a most Native Californians. The presentation will be followed by a hands-on playshop to make edible flour from acorns. We will end with tasting of baked goods made from acorn flour. Jolie's Bio: Jolie Lonner Egert M.S. is an ethnobotanist and forest ecologist. Jolie is Principal at Go Wild! Consulting, a business fosters healthy ecosystems and our connections to them. She has worked on ethnobotanical and restoration projects on four continents and can often be found grinding acorns and eating wild foods. Homeschool Day -- The Harvest Season

Canning and Preserving for Beginners
Saturday, October 16, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm

For ages 13 and up
Join Teacher Stacey Cooper who will help you get hands-on experience canning and pickling organic Hidden Villa fruits and veggies, such as our amazing tomatoes. Overcome the fear and finally know what to do with all your Mason jars! Have a great time with a small group in our old-fashioned kitchen, then proudly bring home your tasty treats. Class includes basic materials; additional materials will be available for purchase.
Bring all your questions for Stacey - she has over 20 years experience making jams, jellies, pickles and conserves - she can tell you why your jelly once turned out to be syrup (or why on earth did it foam?!). She will give you the hands-on info you need to keep your bounty in a safe, healthy way.
