Bake Beautiful Bread, Tartine-style
10:00 am - 12:00 pm

HV Photo

Adult class. Do you dream of pulling a crusty, fragrant loaf of amazing homemade artisan-style bread out from your own home oven... but feel overwhelmed and unsure where to even begin? This class is for you. Teacher Roman Beyer will demo all the carefully researched techniques for you, so you can see everything you’d never learn from a recipe! SF’s Tartine Bakery’s famous loaf is superlative: perfect crust and crunch with a special, secret tangy interior. Now home cooks can duplicate (and even surpass!) this quality in their own home kitchens, no fancy oven needed – Roman will show you how. We’ll have lots of yummy samples too, with extra special pastured butter and more, all at the beautiful, historic Duveneck House’s country kitchen.

Teacher Roman Beyer is a 20-year bread baking veteran who teaches how mere mortals can make artisan-style bread at home, beyond their wildest dreams. He started with a humble bread making machine and transitioned to a stand mixer, which he still uses today. When he started to make wine, it was the experience of fermenting grapes that allowed him to take the life-changing next step in bread making...  using wild yeast!
