Ash was born and raised in Fiji Islands, where being around agriculture was everyday life. Her grandparents owned a sugar cane farm and flower farm. Ash began her career at a young age working in the medical field as the emergency departments director’s assistant for many years. She also has experience working as an executive for a large retirement facility and does business development and managing for after school programs. Ash has been involved in various community programs throughout the bay area and she continues to expand her community outreach efforts locally and internationally. She has received outreach awards from non-profit organizations for her time and dedication. Ash has over 20 years of experience managing special events from fundraising, donation drives to employee social events and community programs. She was drawn to Hidden Villa for the same vision that inspired her to give back to the community.
Ash currently serves as the Community and Guest Services Director, where she wears many hats. She is responsible for weekend educational programming, volunteer program and overseeing educational interns and gatekeepers. She also manages Hidden Villa’s facilities for private, corporate and non-profit organizations. Ash is inspired by the mission statement, “Our mission is to foster educational experiences that build connections and inspire a deeper appreciation and respect for nature, food, and one another.” It really hits her personally. She is intrigued by the communities Hidden Villa serves, most importantly the younger generation. Ash feels like our younger generation has lost their way into technology today; without a place like Hidden Villa, how can this generation and future generations truly embrace the beauty and importance of our surroundings and all that it has to offer? Ash believes it’s very important to make these connections with nature and all living things and know how they come to be, only then you will have a deep appreciation and respect for things. Ash admires being a part of something our generation and future generations can have, appreciate and acknowledge all the dedication and hard work that goes into having fresh foods at our dinner table. She is humbled by the history and vision of Hidden Villa. Her favorite mission-related book is The Hidden Life of Trees, by Peter Wohlleeben.
