Jesse grew up just 20 minutes away in Menlo Park, CA. He has a lot of experience leading outdoor trips. He was an instructor for Cornell Outdoor Education for 3 years, teaching rock climbing, backpacking, and white water kayaking classes. He also grew up raising farm animals through the local 4-H club and studied Animal Science in college. Jesse started coming to Hidden Villa Summer Camp when he was 4 and hasn’t missed a summer since! He loves being able to use Hidden Villa’s land and history to teach about the intersections of social justice, environmental stewardship, and food production. Jesse loves spinning wool from the sheep and making bracelets! His favorite mission-related book is Why are All the Black Kids Sitting Together in the Cafeteria?: And Other Conversations About Race, which offers a great analysis of how race affects child socialization.
