Back to School?...Back to Hidden Villa!

For Grades K – 6

1 class per week for 11 weeks: Thursdays, or Fridays

September 20 to December 7

Your children will come home from Hidden Villa full of fresh air and more closely connected to our natural world of wonder.

Volunteer Open House

HV Photo

Volunteers needed: No experience necessary - all training is provided! Enjoy the rewarding experience of volunteering with the Hidden Villa Environmental Education Program. During our programs, Volunteers lead students as they meet farm animals, explore our organic garden, hike our wilderness trails, and discover their own connection to the environment.

Walk through the footsteps of our students during the Open House for Potential Volunteers. We hope you fall in love with Guiding at Hidden Villa as you awaken your senses in the education garden, meet farm animals face to face, and gently explore nature with a short trip into the wilderness. This is the perfect opportunity to learn more about what volunteers do during a field trip at Hidden Villa.

Please note: this volunteer opportunity is for adults only.  We will be meeting at 10am at the Wolken Education Center for a brief introduction before heading out on our adventure. Bring comfortable clothes, sun protection, walking shoes, water, and a sack lunch. Please register below to RSVP or email Nicole at hveepvolunteers@hiddenvilla.org.

Big Buzz about Bees

HV Photo

For children of all ages, with guardian

Bees are wonderful, helpful creatures... and this fun and engaging class, designed especially for children, is a terrific way to introduce them to these amazing, tiny, winged friends of humans. Teacher Kendal will open your child's eyes, and yours too, with stories and lots of interesting things to show about an often, unfairly, feared little being.

Everyone gets a chance to see and touch all the parts of a working beehive and learn about the tools that it takes to be a beekeeper. We’ll talk about how bees collect pollen and nectar and contribute to many of the foods and products we love. We’ll also explore the many jobs that the different types of bees do inside and out of the hive. The class wraps up with taking a peek inside of a real working hive (it’s completely contained safely behind plexiglass) so we can see real worker bees caring for young larvae, making honey, and if we’re lucky, we may be able to spot the queen bee! And of course, we’ll taste the sweet rewards of beekeeping - honey harvested locally in Los Altos!
