Coexisting with Cougars

Description

Join us at Hidden Villa for an evening with Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District’s Resource Management Specialist, Matt Sharp Chaney, to learn all about mountain lions!

Matt will provide an overview of mountain lion biology, habitat and current research. He will share how hikers, families and neighbors can stay safe in mountain lion habitat and how public open space agencies such as Midpen responds to mountain lion encounters. Additionally, staff will discuss the Highway 17 Wildlife and Trail Crossings project, which will connect over 30,000 acres of protected public lands and enable wide-ranging animals like mountain lions to roam and help reduce wildlife-vehicle collisions.

5:30 - 5:45 Meet and Greet the Staff & Interactive Displays

5:45 - 6:30 Mountain Lion Presentation

6:30 - 7:00 Question and Answer Period

While this program can be for all ages, there will be about an hour of sitting and listening time.  Please plan accordingly

Please Note: We have moved the location of this event to OUTSIDE on the lawn of the DANA CENTER.  We are following recommendations from the Santa Clara County Health Department to minimize large, close-contact gatherings.  Outside there will be ample space to spread out on the lawn.  Please bring either chairs or a blanket and warm clothes that can provide comfort for your family during this exciting presentation!  Please thoughtfully consider your health needs when attending this event and stay home if you are sick.
