After School Adventures is an 11 week program we offer in the fall and spring for local students K-6. Our staff teachers lead a group of up to eight students in farm and wilderness exploration for two hours.
We are seeking high school age volunteers to assist teachers in this program through group management, leading games and activities, and general support of the program. This position is a great opportunity to grain experience working with children, develop leadership skills, and learn about environmental education in a hands on way.
Requires a 2 hour per week commitment for 11 weeks in the fall (September - December) or spring (March - May). Our programs are scheduled on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons.
Benefits of volunteering with this program include:
- Experience working in environmental education
- Enrichment opportunities throughout the year
- Volunteer t-shirt
- Invitation to annual volunteer appreciation gatherings
- Eligible for written letters of recommendation and official volunteer hours for external program requirements
This opportunity is for high school students age 14-17. Volunteers should have some experience working with children and be comfortable around farm animals and in the outdoors, including on hiking trails.
