Communications Manager

Description

We are seeking an experienced communications and data administrator professional eager to work in a collegial environment to help propel the organization's communications strategy to the next level. Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Communications Manager will be a key part of a small, hard-working team with exposure to all aspects of the organization’s work. This position supports the strategic development and day-to-day management of creative, goal-aligned content across Hidden Villa’s digital and print communication channels, driving community engagement in our programs and services. Through digital marketing, print collateral, and outreach, this role helps implement Hidden Villa’s mission, vision, and values. Due to the nature of the job and our small fund development team, the person filling this position must be comfortable wearing many hats – from event support to fundraising efforts.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Ability to curate digital and print content in an engaging and inclusive tone that matches Hidden Villa’s brand and digital presence.
  • Ability to demonstrate sincerity, care, and cultural responsiveness when responding to comments on high visibility communications channels and social media posts, following Hidden Villa’s community norms and protocols.
  • Excellent communications, writing and presentation skills.
  • Ability to both work independently and to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary creative teams.
  • Ability to exercise judgment in a position of responsibility and to work with or without supervision.
  • Strong time management skills, including the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities with grace and humor.
  • Experience in creating templates for newsletters, editing websites with WordPress, and program registration templates.
  • Familiarity with industry best practices in communications and marketing.
  • Ability to provide a unified voice that aligns with Hidden Villa’s mission and strategic plan.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish/Mandarin or Cantonese) a plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Google Suite programs and database applications (Salesforce preferred), and graphic design tools (Canva preferred).

Key Responsibilities

Digital Marketing (Social Media, Newsletter, and Website) - 40%

  • Oversee content creation and implementation of mission focused posts on Hidden Villa’s Facebook and Instagram accounts.
  • Serve as a communications liaison across the organization’s departments by coordinating posts that promote their programs, events, and services.
  • Anticipate upcoming events and programs to aid in planning for relevant content.
  • Assist in updating website pages as needed.
  • Assist in web content development.
  • Assist the Director of Communications in coordinating the communications strategy in collaboration with the Communications Committee of the board.
  • Assist in creating, writing, and curating content for the monthly newsletter.

Creative Media Content Development (40%)

  • Assist with designing flyers, graphics, and other marketing material for events and programs hosted by Hidden Villa.
  • Curate media and add to our media library.
  • Film, create, and edit new video content to support our communications and fundraising strategies.

Event Support & Cross-Departmental Collaboration (20%)

  • The Communications Manager will work in collaboration with leadership across all departments to support social media marketing, membership, fundraising, and events.
  • In collaboration with the Development Team, provide event support for 3-4 small special events annually.
  • In collaboration with the Development Team, provide year-end giving donor cultivation support
  • Other duties as needed.

Terms of Employment

  • This position is full-time, hybrid work schedule, in Los Altos Hills, CA. This position will be required to be onsite 3 days per week and more during high volume times. Workdays are Monday through Friday, occasional weekend or evening work will be required to support organization/board events.
  • Salary for this position is $76,000, depending on experience.
