Description
Have you ever wondered exactly how soil happens? Entire civilizations have disappeared from the Earth primarily from the loss of the topsoil they depended on. In this field-based class, we'll bundle up and venture out with hand lenses to observe this essential process in action, both on the farm (composting) and in the forest (general decomposition). We will inspect the many life forms involved, including invertebrates, fungi, and even microbial action. This will be a family-friendly class, suitable for curious adults and for the budding young scientists of the family, too.
