Seasonal Maintenance Technician

Description

This position will support the summer camp program with facilities and land maintenance. 

Key Responsibilities

General Responsibility
Support the facilities needs of the summer camp program. This is a seasonal position, beginning May 27 and ending August 15, 2025.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Manage daily maintenance requests and respond within the scope of experience.
  • Maintain daily vehicle logs and refrigeration temperature charts.
  • Ability to repair and maintain basic plumbing functions, including working with irrigation sprinklers and sanitary facilities.
  • Maintain safety of electric carts.
  • Assist property staff in timely responses for repairs and maintenance requests for Hidden Villa property and buildings, including:
  • Repair of gates, fencing, steps, decks and buildings around property;
  • Planning and scheduling contractors to conduct repairs;
  • Minor repairs for equipment and vehicle maintenance;
  • Fixing malfunctioning faucets and toilets
  • Weed whacking, mowing and other outdoor maintenance;
  • Tree and trail maintenance work;
  • Respond to general safety concerns regarding property and facilities.
  • Ensure that all ACA regulations concerning program areas are adhered to.
  • Submit orders for any necessary equipment or supplies, ensuring timely arrival of materials.
  • Update Camp Leadership weekly regarding property news and happenings.
  • Regularly meet with the Camp Leadership & Property staff to express camp needs, concerns and questions.
  • Submit completed work orders weekly.
  • Assist with the set-up and clean-up of large-scale camp activities.
  • Submit a written report at the end of the summer evaluating the current season and making suggestions for the following season.
  • Other duties as needed or assigned by Camp Leadership or Property staff.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience working with basic tools
  • Current CPR, and First Aid certifications; or willingness to obtain
  • Ability to operate a tractor, preferred
  • Ability to maintain records and necessary administrative tasks as they relate to the job
  • Ability to work well with peers in a team environment
  • Ability to work with little supervision
  • Must possess valid Driver’s License and clean driving record
  • Desire and ability to work with youth in an outdoor setting
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Flexibility and patience
  • Ability to utilize youth work appropriate self-care techniques
  • Desire to learn and grow

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to observe camper and staff behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques.
  • Physical ability to lift 50 lbs; stamina and agility to safely work with tools and equipment.
  • Ability to crouch down, crawl in tight spaces and walk distances up to 2-3 miles per day.
  • Interest in and willingness to work in a wide variety of environments, and to learn to work safely with potentially hazardous tools, materials and animals (i.e. saws, cleaning agents, spiders, snakes, etc.).

Terms of Employment

Terms of Employment:
This is a 30-hour per week, non-benefitted, non-exempt position, and the compensation is $26/hour. This position will end on or before August 15, 2025. Due to the nature of our programs, work hours may vary and hours should be adjusted as appropriate. Occasional weekend and evening work required.
