HOW TO APPLY
Day Camp Counselors: (1 positions, $275/week + DOE) Day Camp counselors work with approximately seven campers ages 6 to 9, Monday through Wednesday 8:00 am - 6:00 pm and Thursday 8:00 am through Friday 5:00 pm (staff sleep on site for a camper’s overnight). Extended hours during staff training. Counselors lead their group through activities on the farm and trails of Hidden Villa. They are responsible for cultivating the genuine curiosity, self-esteem, and well being of the campers. Needs to be at least 18 years old. Must be available June 7-Aug. 17. Kitchen Assistants: (1 positions, $300/week + DOE + room & board) Support food service manager and cooks in serving three healthy and fresh meals to residential campers and staff. Experience with food preparation and kitchen maintenance. Desire to work in a camp kitchen. Ability to learn to do tasks as assigned. Ability to lift weight of 50lbs. Outdoor Activity Coordinator: (FILLED) Coordinate the use of outdoor equipment, such as stoves, backpacks, and water purifiers. Help set-up for outdoor activities including, but not limited to over night trips. Repair and maintain equipment as necessary. Experience in archery & High and Low Ropes course. Teach archery and facilitate ropes course in program daily. Ability to work with wide age range. Maintain archery and ropes course equipment and assist in coordination of all camp activities. Detail oriented ability to maintain accurate equipment records, plan equipment use appropriately for camp activities. Also responsible for serving as a member of all camp management staff. Health Care Manager / Nurse: (FILLED)
Licensed RN or LVN desired. Will consider EMT certified candidates. Experience with children and young adults. Ability to monitor health care, maintain records and supplies, implement health care plan and manage an established budget. Desire to live and work in a camp community. Also responsible for serving as a member of all camp management staff. Must be able to be a role model among peers. Needs to be at least 21 years old. Must be available May 31-Aug. 17. Cooks: (FILLED) Current Safe Serve certification preferred.
Work with Food Service Manager to estimate needs, and to order, receive and store food and supplies. Assist in training kitchen staff. Function as a general all-around cook for all meals and special events. Ability to plan and prepare foods for special needs groups and those with dietary restrictions (Vegan, Food Allergies, etc). Maintain kitchen with a high standard of cleanliness, sanitation and safety. Experience as a cook and/or assistant cook, preferably at a camp. Ability to relate well with others in a camp setting. Youth Leadership Trip Leader/Counselor: (FILLED) Work as a counselor in the Youth Leadership Programs. Guide a group of 12 campers on a 9 day backpacking trip from Hidden Villa to Wadell Beach in Santa Cruz twice during the summer. Work as a counselor in the ACT program teaching teens to work with children as well as leadership & life skills. Must have experience as a trip leader, meal planning, working with teens and be proficient in use of all backpacking equipment including stoves, maps, compass, etc. Knowledge of natural history, experience as environmental educator, and low-impact philosophy are essential. Must be able to be a role model among peers. Wilderness First Responder is required. Lifeguard Certification is a plus. Needs to be at least 21 years old. Must be available May 31-Aug. 17. Youth Leadership Program Head: (FILLED) Excellent communications skills, ability to relate to and supervise others, excellent organizational skills. At least three (3) years working in camping or equivalent experience, with at least one year as a supervisor. Responsible for the overall management of Youth Leadership Programs. Responsibilities include teaching teens to work with children as well as teaching leadership & life skills. Develop and lead workshops including but not limited: Age-Characteristics, Behavior Management, Conflict Resolution & Social Justice. Coordinate and support a group of 12 campers on a 9 day backpacking trip from Hidden Villa to Wadell Beach in Santa Cruz twice during the summer. Also responsible for serving as a member of all camp management staff. Must be able to be a role model among peers and for older youth. Must have a strong interest in developing camp programs. Program Heads: (FILLED) Excellent communications skills, ability to relate to and supervise others. At least three (3) years working in camping or equivalent experience, with at least one year as a supervisor. Responsible with co-program head for managing one of four programs (Day Camp, Tipi Camp, Resident Camp, Farm and Wilderness) which includes supervising staff, ACTs (counselor in training) and campers in the program. Arts & Crafts Coordinator: (FILLED) Training and experience in arts and crafts, ability to teach a wide variety of art activities to a wide range of young people, order and maintain supplies within an established budget, keep A&C hut organized and clean, self-motivated, ability to work independently as well as with others, excellent time management skills. Lifeguard: (FILLED) Current Lifeguard Certification, CPR & First Aid required; WSI preferred. Oversee all aspects of the pool – free swim, pool orientations, safety of deck and pool related evening activities. Supervising pool watchers & counselor lifeguards. Inventory and maintain equipment.
