Andrea Hamilton brings decades of global experience and a lifelong commitment to environmental stewardship to her role as trustee. Raised in New York’s Hudson River Valley, she was introduced early to environmental advocacy through her parents’ work with the Hudson Riverkeepers in their fight to restore the river from industrial pollution. Environmental values were instilled early—she jokes that she was a Sierra Club member “in utero.”
After college, Andrea worked for two international think tanks in Washington, D.C., then traveled the world for two years before settling in San Francisco, where she still lives today. She holds two master’s degrees from UC Berkeley (Asian Studies and Journalism) and spent over two decades as an international journalist, reporting on business, politics, and global markets from Europe and Asia. Today, she works as an investment advisor specializing in sustainable and values-based investing, helping clients align their financial strategies with environmental and social impact.
A longtime supporter of environmental education, Andrea was introduced to Hidden Villa by friends who grew up hiking its trails. She later served as a volunteer environmental guide—an experience she describes as one of her favorite roles—and plans to return to guiding when her schedule allows. She’s passionate about connecting people, especially young people, to nature, and believes deeply in the power of environmental education to inspire lifelong stewardship.
Andrea lives in Alameda, California, and spends her free time paddling and racing outrigger canoes in San Francisco Bay and Hawai‘i, or hiking in the hills with her beloved husky, Shadow.
