Description
“Herps,” or more technically, herpetofauna, are some of the least observed of our wild vertebrate neighbors. Amphibians and reptiles are generally hard to find and to see up close, so they can pass under most people’s radar for years at a time.
This indoor class will be a celebration of these fascinating and under-appreciated creatures, focusing on slides and taxidermied specimens to prepare you to celebrate those rare occasions when you do glimpse one in the wild. Find out which snakes and lizards live in our area, which ones are dangerous, and which of them are hugely helpful on an organic farm like Hidden Villa's - and in your yard. See preserved specimens up close, and learn why the usually sluggish California Slender Salamander might just be one of the fastest land animals around!
