Helen was born and raised in the Bay Area. She briefly left to attend UC Irvine, where she studied Biological Sciences. She ended her college career thinking she wanted to be a field biologist but was drawn to work a summer as a camp counselor at Hidden Villa. This is where Helen discovered that she did indeed like working with kids and it led her to apply to the outdoor educator position where she hopes to facilitate positive experiences for students in the outdoors. The Hidden Villa value that Helen feels most connected to is exploration. She enjoys seeing students trying new things, engaging with the land and getting outside their comfort zones. Helen’s favorite activities at Hidden Villa are hiking, visiting the animals and playing in the creek with groups of students.
