Nicky grew up in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Nicky received a B.S. in Environmental Sciences from UC Berkeley. While in school she volunteered in Service Learning after school programs for elementary students and worked at Summer Camps for the Fresh Air Fund annually. Nicky then moved her love of working with youth and the outdoors to YMCA Camp Colman as the Environmental Education Director in Washington which she called home for 7 years before relocating to Hidden Villa. Hidden Villa’s unique position in the Silicon Valley and its ability to work with a myriad of diverse and vibrant communities attracted her to the organization. Additionally, the operating farm as a classroom is a vibrant and unique learning tool for all visitors and program participants. She loves watching families enjoy their independent adventuress on the farm during weekends, seeing young people so enthused by their discoveries in all our programs and the ability to hike into the wilderness and forget the face-paced life of the Bay Area! Nicky’s favorite mission related book is Borderlands/La Frontera: The New Mestiza by Gloria Anzaldua.
