Steve has spent his career in nonprofit land-based education, land stewardship, and facilities management. Before joining Hidden Villa as Director of Land & Facilities, he served as Executive Director of the Siskiyou Field Institute in southwest Oregon, where he led habitat restoration projects, cultural fire partnerships, and field-based environmental education while overseeing 850 acres of protected land and campus facilities.
The Hidden Villa value that most aligns with Steve’s personal ethos is stewardship. He is motivated by taking long-term care of land, water, buildings, and relationships so that future generations inherit a place that is healthier, safer, and more resilient than he found it.
Steve’s favorite Hidden Villa activity is walking the ranch with visitors and staff, noticing seasonal changes across the fields and forests, and trading stories about how people connect with this place.
Steve’s favorite mission-aligned book is Finding the Mother Tree by Suzanne Simard, which deepens his appreciation for how forests communicate and reminds him that healthy ecosystems depend on relationships and reciprocity.
