Description
Hidden Villa welcomes the San Jose Astronomical Association (SJAA) for an evening viewing of the planets, stars, galaxies and other heavenly bodies. This free event introduces the public to the use of optical aids such as binoculars and telescopes, along with the chance to ask experienced SJAA members questions about astronomy and learn how to use a telescope. We encourage you to bring your own telescope to learn how to use and maintain it. Experienced astronomy hobbyists will share their knowledge, experiences, and passions with other amateur astronomers.
San Jose Astronomical Association (SJAA) is an educational organization based in San Jose, California. Its mission is to foster interest in astronomy and science, and bring astronomy opportunities to the public.
The SJAA achieves its mission by holding free, public, in-town star parties; providing a “QuickSTARt” program to help people get started in the hobby of amateur astronomy; providing a telescope loaner program; offering a school star party program to bring telescopes and informed amateur astronomers to school campuses; hosting events featuring talks by leading scientists and other researchers; and more.
Good to Know
We encourage you to bring your own telescope or binoculars if you have them. SJAA will be bringing a number of optical and electronic scopes as well.
Cloud cover and fog can spoil viewings at any time and the light from a full Moon can cause problems viewing at night. Should weather conditions prove to be a problem, we will inform all registrants and reschedule.
