Come celebrate Earth Day, or any day, with bug-eyed wonder! Insects are cool, they're often beautiful, and insect benefits to humanity include critical ecosystem services such as pollination, decomposition, and sustenance for vast categories of vertebrate life such as birds and amphibians.

This class will be a celebration of these forgotten fauna, their beauty and strange adaptations, and of their beneficial roles in our lives, focusing on slides and taxidermied specimens to prepare you for those rare occasions when you do glimpse one in the wild.

Explore the world of nature writing! Poets and naturalists alike have found inspiration in connection with the outdoors.

Roots have a life of their own that may surprise you! For their part, shoots (or stems or ‘trunks’) facilitate a complex exchange of functions between above- and below-ground parts of plants. Join us to delve into those mysterious functions and processes, and watch some of them in action on the farm and in the forest.

Explore different ways of looking at nature, build your observation skills, and learn about tools to discover more information about the natural world.

Join us to admire wildflowers up close and in person on the trails of Hidden Villa. We will also investigate the evolutionary origin of flowers, their ecological importance, the various tricks they play on us animals, and more!
